Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
so on the first day of Psychology, we did a little get-to-know-you day
and one thing we did is we wrote our name, contact information, and favorite band/artist/song on this card, and handed them in
and of course I put down Dream Theater
so every day she’s been playing a song from youtube, I presume a song that was on a person’s card
so today we were talking about Parkinson’s disease, and how they were using stem cells to treat it, and the controversy behind that
so then after we watched a video about it, she passed out pieces of paper, and we wrote down what we thought of the issue
and I mentioned that Dream Theater’s song “The Great Debate” covers the topic really well and she should play it in class some time, and also that the entire second disc of the album (Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence) is all about different mental illnesses and disorders, and that she might find it interesting.
so I hope she plays all the songs on the second disc before we start class some day (because some people consider it to be a single song).
all 40-something minutes of it. and it’s a 2-hour class.
that would be fucking awesome.
of course, I would be the only one in class jamming to it, and the only one singing along.
and during the overture or something, I would be handing out copies of the lyrics, so people can follow along, and explain the concept and stuff
because I’m a super-nerd like that
this has been a long text post, brought to you by traptin85
While the gay community have been busy with other matters, members of the religious right are perpetrating a slow but consistent march to a claim that acceptance of homosexuality will soon lead to the acceptance of pedophilia.
The key here is that these folks are not saying that pedophilia and homosexuality are connected, but rather are using a faulty “slippery slope” argument, i.e. – “just like the gay community is receiving more acceptance, pretty soon the pedophiles will be getting more acceptance.”
Ugh. Some days it’s just bigot whack-a-mole over and over again…
the funny thing is, “pedophilia” was okay up until recently
